Architectural heritage

Llagostera has an important architectural heritage part of which, as it is the case of the Wall, has been listed as Item of Cultural Interest. A walk through the old quarter of Llagostera allows visiting a number of buildings of historical interest. The Wall Route includes, among others, the parish Church of Sant Feliu (seventeenth century), the Castle (fourteenth - fifteenth century) and the viewpoint of the Plaça del Castell, from which there’s a panoramic view of Les Gavarres and the pre-Pyrenees. Along the streets of the centre of Llagostera there are many Modernist and Noucentist style buildings, as well as others built during the economic boom derived from the cork industry in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, which are also part of the Architectural Route.

Town Council, Castle and Wall. The origins date back to the twelfth century but the rests that can be seen today belong to a powerful fortified complex from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries from which there remain three towers. The current Town Council has preserved the fifteenth century vaults in its Plenary Hall.

Sant Feliu Parish Church.
There are references to the church from the year 855, although the current building dates from the seventeenth century. It has a rectangular nave and a polygonal apse. Noteworthy is the gateway of Catalan Gothic style. The niche contains a reproduction of an image of Saint Felix that replaces the original, which was lost during the Civil War.

Casino Llagosterenc.
EIt was built in Noucentist style in the mid-nineteenth century, at a time when there was an important associative movement linked to the cork industry. The original building (1891-1903) was replaced by the present one in 1936.

The Albertí Tower
It is an example of the Masies or country houses of the sixteenth century. This Masia displays a defensive watchtower and a chapel from 1588.

Ca les Vídues
 (Widows’ House).
House built in the sixteenth century. It was home to the widows of a prominent family who lived there in order to be near the church. In 1957 it was donated to the Town Council.

Can Coris
És un clar exemple de com era la residència d‘un empresari del suro. Correspon a l‘època més esplendorosa de la indústria (de finals del s. XIX i principis del XX).

L‘Agrícola Modernist house built in 1903 to host entities and associations. It was the site of the Centre Regionalista and the Agricultural Chamber
